Diploma thesis: Digital crafts- combining traditional crafts and 3D printing in ceramics
The work combines the advantages of slip casting (pouring liquid porcelain into plaster moulds) as a method for rapid reproduction and thus the basic shape of the vessel with ceramic 3D printing in the form of isolation that protects against burns when the contents are hot due to hollow bodies forming in the vessel. The 3D print is visible in the parametrically designed isolation around the vessel, this surface of the isolation can be varied and customised with each vessel. By glazing the vessel while the isolation remains unglazed, two exciting tactile sensations are created that caress the hands.
